Montevetrano, Cabernet Sauvignon/Aglianico, Colli di Salerno, Italy 2012

A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Aglianico, and Merlot from Southern Italy's Campania region. The south's answer to a Super Tuscan, Montevetrano has been ran by owner Silvia Imparato and her long time friend oenologist Riccardo Cotarella. The wine is powerful and dense, only getting better with age. This bottle, now in its twelfth year, is showing wonderful tertiary notes of dried berries, leather, straw, and the classic meatiness of Aglianico. A perfect accompaniment to the Christmas ham or roast.
